Meet The Team
Our Professionals

Scott

Co-Owner/Co-Founder

A lifetime of gaming and a love of Formula 1 came together when I learned that sim racing was a real thing, and there were people doing crazy things with motion equipment, steering wheel force feedback, and general simulation.  A few months and some  extensive rabbit holes later, DriVR Motorsports was born!  I want to share my love of racing, the joy of competition, and the experience that I've created with everyone - nothing makes me happier than seeing a group of racers leave the shop laughing and talking about the moves they made on track.

After 17 years combined service with the Canadian Army as a Logistician and a brief foray into medicine as a Licensed Practical Nurse, I'm enjoying the ride (pun alert!) and working to build a community of enthusiasts.

Andrew

Co-Owner/Co-Founder

“I’ve loved driving ever since I first started playing Mario Kart as a kid. I would spend hours doing time trials trying to take each corner just a little better than the last time. I never imagined virtual racing would evolve to the point that it’s reached now, and I couldn’t be happier about it!” Born and raised in Lethbridge, Andrew has been a professional driver for 15 years, currently working for Alberta Precision Labs. He’s also a trained accountant.

Shawn

Crew Chief

Shawn is an enthusiastic, bubbly member of our pit crew - he's also a rocketship behind the wheel.  If you come in with less than a full compliment of race drivers, odds are that you'll eventually see him in your rearview mirror, talking through race lines, braking points, and racecraft.  Want to get faster?  Let him past and see if you can keep up!

Sim Rig Setup

Our simulators are built with high-end equipment to give you an experience you can’t get anywhere else.  In addition to our 4-inch, 100-motions-per-second capable motion equipment, we’ve got Direct Drive wheel bases, Load Cell pedals, the highest resolution VR headsets, all driven by top of the line PCs and graphics cards

Steering

Moza R9 Direct Drive wheel base
Moza ES, CS V2 or KS steering wheel

VR

Meta Quest 3 driven by RTX4080 GPU’s

We use full-sized round wheels, or 300mm butterfly-style formula wheels.  These match what you’ll find in a real race car, from size and weight to the controls available.  With magnetic carbon-fibre or aluminum paddle shifters, and dual-clutch paddles available, everything you touch will add to your experience.

Feedback to the steering wheel is generated by our Moza R9 Direct-Drive wheel bases.  Your home quality Logitechs and Thrustmasters generate between 1.5 and 2.5 ft-lbs of torque with an electric motor, and then feed that to the wheel through a gear or belt-driven system.  This means that your little bumps and your giant crashes feel almost the same.  Our bases generate almost 7 ft-lbs (9Nm), and the wheel is mounted directly to the motor.  This means you get to feel every bump, change in road texture, kerb, and lockup in extreme detail.
